2019 Ford Super Duty

Today’s Ford Super Duty is the toughest heavy-duty pickup we’ve ever built. We started by cutting body weight with high-strength, military-grade, aluminum alloy. We then invested some of that weight saving where it really counts — in stronger axles, beefier steering and chassis components, and a fully boxed frame built of over 95 percent high-strength steel.

The Super Duty has the only high-strength, military-grade, aluminum-alloy body in its class. Aluminum alloy is substantially lighter than the previous body, yet it’s remarkably strong. It’s also more dent-and-ding resistant and not subject to red rust corrosion. Use of aluminum alloy allowed some of the weight savings to be reinvested where it matters the most, especially in the frame that’s the foundation of strength and toughness.

The fully boxed frame, built of over 95 percent high-strength steel with up to 10 crossmembers, is 24 times stiffer than the previous design. The frame is designed to minimize flexing and twisting while maximizing strength and torsional rigidity — and serves as the foundation for outstanding Super Duty payload and towing capability.

The Trailer Reverse Guidance enhances visibility via cameras in the sideview mirrors and visual guides in the center dash screen. You get a clear rear view of where the trailer is going, with the guidelines changing with the movements of the steering wheel. The camera view is digitally expanded to show the direction of the truck and the trailer. Now, one difficult task on the job isn’t so difficult anymore.
